Fast-Track Your First Aid Knowledge: Everything You Need To Know About Blended Courses

Blended courses in first aid training

First aid saves lives.

And a blended course might be just the thing you need.

With the right first aid training, you will acquire the appropriate knowledge of first aid equipment and techniques that will enable you to provide proper help in an emergency, and help prevent the unnecessary loss of lives.

Vital First Aid has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, and we’re the leader in First Aid and CPR training courses.

And right now we have some excellent blended courses available.

Blended Courses With Vital First Aid

Our “blended format” courses are for those who need to attend a first aid training course but are short on time – and don’t want to compromise on the knowledge and skills needed to help save a life.

It is important to take first aid seriously, but we also recognise that not everyone can afford to spend a whole day attending a course.

Blended learning combines self-paced online learning with face-to-face instruction and assessment to ensure all participants walk away with the skills they need to save lives.

The best paramedical training will be provided on the day by our qualified trainers. And, after completing our courses, you will receive a nationally-recognised certificate.

The face-to-face component of the courses takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete.

Who Are First Aid Courses For?

Individuals

If you attempt to save a life, or respond to an emergency without proper training, you don’t want to make things worse.

We always encourage people to help wherever possible, so it’s vital to have the right training in an emergency situation.

If a person receives appropriate first aid immediately, their recovery time will be reduced and their chances of experiencing a long-term disability are reduced.

By being able to provide basic care you can stabilise a patient until emergency medical services arrive.

It will also help boost your confidence in other non-medical situations you may face on a daily basis.

Businesses

A workplace accident can happen at any time, and who is trained to help if it does?

A company is legally obligated to provide immediate attention to its employees.

First aid training gives your staff the confidence and ability to react immediately to an incident, injury or illness.

Plus, it builds trust. Your staff will become closer to each other when they learn a skill together, one that will aid them in looking after each other.

As well as knowing exactly what should be in first aid kits and how to maintain them, your employees will also know how to use them in an emergency.

And the good thing is, employees will have those skills for life, especially if you maintain ongoing refresher courses.

Blended Courses FAQs

How do I enrol?

Simply follow the link to book into the courses online. As an alternative, you can phone our office (call 1300 880 343) and discuss your needs with a staff member.

What is the target audience?

Our units are designed for those who wish to gain a good understanding of first aid and those that are – or wish to become – designated first aiders in their workplace. It is also an excellent course to undertake even for those who just wish to learn about first aid.

Only basic numeracy and literacy skills are needed to attend our courses. Access to a computer with internet, as well as basic computer skills is required for completion. It does require you to be able to get onto the floor to perform CPR – this is a licensing requirement of our courses.

If you have ANY special needs (eg, language/literacy/numeracy difficulties, physical disabilities, etc) that you think may impact your ability to complete this training, please let us know prior to enrolling.

What pre-course study is required?

Completion of an online learning module is required prior to attending the face-to-face course. Participants will not be able to attend the face-to-face course if the online learning module is not completed – a cancellation fee will apply if you are unable due to non-completion of the pre-course work. We also recommend you read the first aid book available on our website to aid in your understanding of CPR and first aid.

There will be a short quiz at the beginning of the course on the information contained in the videos. This is to enable the trainer to better guide the content of the course for you.

What are the assessment / course requirements?

We normally use online assessments via the student Learner Portal for this unit. A smart phone or laptop, fully charged with internet access is generally required. It is the students’ responsibility to ensure they have such a device and have gained prior access to their Learner Portal. Information on accessing the portal is available in the confirmation email.

There is some theory and practical assessment to ensure the participant has gained the required knowledge and confidence in the skills covered in the unit. You will be required, as per the training package, to complete two minutes of CPR on a CPR manikin on the floor. Participants will also be required to demonstrate practical skills, including the application of slings, etc.

What are the recertification requirements?

The “CPR refresher” course is recommended annually, and the “Provide First Aid” course should be refreshed at least every 3 years.
