The REACTIVE BLENDED option reduces the face-to-face time and allows for a safer, more flexible attendance at courses whilst still gaining the full award of HLTAID011 Provide first aid  including HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, it is simply a different delivery method. 

Our NEWEST version is the unique REACTIVE BLENDED module which automatically assesses your knowledge of each subject area and either allows you to bypass the content for that subject or takes you through the content to ensure your knowledge is sound. This means that everyone will complete the online work at a different pace whilst making sure that the essential knowledge is gained by all.

Once enrolled, you will gain access to your Learner Portal – in the Learner Portal under LEARNING TO DO you will find the online module to complete. Our blended format combines self-paced online learning with approx 3 1/2 to 4  hours of face-to-face instruction and assessment to ensure the participants walk away with the essential life-saving skills. 

Courses are available throughout Sydney, Newcastle and the Central Coast. 

This unit has been known in the past as Senior First Aid, Apply First Aid, or even Level 2 First Aid. The name of the course changes but the importance of the information contained in the courses hasn’t changed. The HLTAID0011 Provide First Aid ( which includes HLTAID009 Provide Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation ) unit provides participants with the skills and knowledge to assist in almost any emergency situation involving first aid.

The unit is recognised as the required training for first aider’s in the workplace under all the various ‘workcover’ authorities throughout Australia and is specifically noted in the Safework Australia / Safework NSW Code of Practice First Aid in the Workplace.

Course Duration ??

Using this format, with the precourse learning, you will be in class only for approx 3 1/2 hours.

Target Audience

This unit is designed for those who wish to gain a good understanding of first aid and those that are or wish to become a designated first aider in their workplace. It is also an excellent course to undertake even for those who just wish to learn about first aid.

Only basic numeracy and literacy skills are needed to attend this course. Access to a computer with internet, as well as basic computer skills is required for completion of this unit. Completion of this unit does require the student to be able to get onto the floor to perform CPR – this is a licensing requirement of the unit.

If you have ANY special needs ( eg, language/literacy / numeracy difficulties, physical disabilities etc ) that you think may impact your ability to complete this training please let us know prior to enrolling.

Pre-course study

Completion of an online learning module ( duration of approx 4 hours but can be MUCH less with our new REACTIVE BLENDED MODULE ) is required prior to attending the face-to-face course. This can be found in your Learner Portal under Learning To Do. Participants should complete this pre-course work prior to attending the face-to-face workshop.  We also recommend you read the first aid book available on our website to aid in your understanding of CPR and first aid.

There will be a short quiz at the beginning of the course on the information contained in the videos, this is to enable the trainer to better guide the content of the course for you.

Assessment / course requirements

We use online assessments via the student Learner Portal for this unit. A “smart device” such as a smartphone, Ipad or laptop, fully charged with internet access is required. A tablet is the ideal sized device for this purpose, however, a smartphone is still fine to use. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure they have such a device and have gained prior access to their Learner Portal. Information on accessing their portal is available on their Confirmation email or by contacting our office. All participants of our courses must have basic computer skills. Computer / IT skills include the ability to access emails and follow links within those emails, complete online forms and create / access online profiles. If you can navigate Facebook as an example you would have no issues. 

There is some theory and practical assessment to ensure that the participant has gained the required knowledge and confidence in the skills covered in the unit. You will be required, as per the Training Package, to complete 2 mins of CPR on a CPR manikin on the floor. Unfortunately, there are no exceptions to this requirement. . Participants will also be required to demonstrate various practical skills including the application of slings etc

Recertification requirements

CPR refresher is recommended annually and Provide First Aid at least every 3 years
