The HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy course is the NEW updated version of this course, replacing the superseded HLTAID007 Provide advanced resuscitation from 2022.
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
This unit applies to workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in a range of complex situations, include community and workplace settings. Equipment includes the use of emergency oxygen and also defibrillators

The unit is recognised as the required training for first aider’s who need to be able to use emergency oxygen equipment in the workplace under all the various ‘workcover’ authorities throughout Australia
Courses are available throughout Sydney, Newcastle and the Central Coast.
Course covers:
- safe use of oxygen devices in the emergency field
- administration of oxygen therapy
- resuscitation using oxygen equipment
- bag-valve-mask resuscitation
- oropharyngeal airway
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training device.
- suction
- selection of oxygen masks with tubing; nasal cannula, therapy mask, resuscitation mask with oxygen port
- managing SEVERE bleeding using tourniquets and haemostatic dressings

Course Requirements
Only basic numeracy and literacy skills are needed to attend this course. Access to a computer with internet, as well as basic computer skills is required for completion of this unit.
If you have ANY special needs ( eg, language / literacy / numeracy difficulties, physical disabilities etc ) that you think may impact on your ability to complete this training please let us know prior to enrolling.
You must hold a current HLTAID011 Provide first aid certification prior to attending this unit. This is a mandatory requirement
We do not run these courses as “public courses” they are only conducted for organisations / clubs and sporting groups.
Course Duration
Face to face training is approx. 6 hours plus recommended pre-course learning including on-line CPR videos
Pre-course study
It is required that you watch the CPR videos as well as read the first aid book available on our website to aid in your understanding of CPR and first aid.
There will be a short quiz at the beginning of the course on the information contained in the videos, this is to enable the trainer to better guide the content of the course for you.
Assessment requirements
There is some theory and practical assessment to ensure that the participant has gained the required knowledge and confidence in the skills covered in the unit. You will be required, as per the Training Package, to complete 2 mins of CPR on a CPR manikin. A high level of competence is expected in all aspects of this unit to successfully complete the unit
Recertification requirements
CPR refresher is recommended annually as is also the HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation and oxygen therapy.
