The HLTSS00068 Occupational First Aid Skill Set course is the NEW updated version of this course, replacing the superseded HLTSS00027 Occupational First Aid Skill Set from 2022.
This skill set provides a set of skills to establish, maintain and facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid in a workplace environment, including the skills to provide an emergency first aid response in the event of an emergency. It is designed for workplaces where a first aid room may or is required under the state / territory legislation

This skill set provides a set of skills to establish, maintain and facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid in a workplace environment, including the skills to provide an emergency first aid response in the event of an emergency. The Occupational First Aid course is especially designed for high risk work sites with more than 100 staff in attendance and where a first aid room is required under the various state / territory Safework authority legislation.

Target Audience
This skill set has been endorsed by industry as appropriate for people who are either employed in, or intending to become employed in, nominated occupational first aider roles
Course Requirements
Only basic numeracy and literacy skills are needed to attend this course. Access to a computer with internet capability is required to complete the online learning module – as is also basic computer skills eg ability to open files, web browsers etc. using ideally the latest version of CHROME as your web browser.
If you have ANY special needs ( eg, language / literacy / numeracy difficulties, physical disabilities etc ) that you think may impact on your ability to complete this training please let us know prior to enrolling.
Assessment requirements
There is theory and practical assessment to ensure that the participant has gained the required knowledge and confidence in the skills covered in the unit. You will be required, as per the Training Package, to complete 2 mins of CPR on a CPR manikin. Participants will also be required to demonstrate various practical skills including application of slings, use of various additional first aid equipment etc. A high level of competence is expected in all aspects of this unit to successfully complete the unit. Skills in research and understanding workplace policies is also required

Recertification requirements
HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation and oxygen therapy refresher is recommended annually and HLTAID011 Provide Advanced First Aid at least every 3 years
Course Duration
Face to face training is 3 days plus recommended pre-course learning including on-line CPR videos
Pre-course study
There is a pre-course online learning / assessment module required to be completed prior to attending this course.
There will be a short quiz at the beginning of the course on the information contained in the videos, this is to enable the trainer to better guide the content of the course for you.
